Editorial Assistant

Toronto Our magazine is currently seeking a highly-organized, detail-oriented, mature and confident individual to support our editorial department. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment   Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and reports directly to the Editor in Chief in the administration, planning and production of a quarterly magazine
  • Liaise with our content and design teams to monitor timescales for stages in the publishing process
  • Review completed designs for flare, accuracy, colour coding and theme
  • Complete all ad schedule, magazine content, and work forms
  • Conduct thorough research and gather information to write articles, anecdotes, photos or illustrations on various topics for the company’s online and print publication
  • Write and effectively proofread and/or edit articles and blogs for online and print including social media
  • Contact and respond to queries from writers, publishers, subscribers, and advertisers
  • Prepare memos, letters, job postings, schedules, attendance reports
  • Facilitate team meetings, take meeting minutes and transcribe
  • Maintain accurate databases and filing systems
  • Perform routine administrative tasks as assigned

  Requirements:

  • Sound work ethic, positive attitude and very flexible
  • Keen eye for detail and creative design
  • Excellent time management and organizational capabilities
  • Ability to consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize and multitask
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills
  • Expertise in English both written and oral
